From 25 to 27 August, 2011, the International Sociological Association's Research Committee on Poverty, Social Welfare and Social Policy (RC19) holds its annual academic conference in Seoul, Korea. This event is co-organized by the BK 21 Programme, Graduate School of Public Administration, Seoul National University.
It is the first time that the RC19 annual meeting takes place in East Asia.
The 2011 RC19 meeting brings together leading scholars in the field of comparative welfare
state studies from different parts of the world and encompassing a wide range of disciplines,
including sociology, social policy and political science. Following past practice, the 2011 RC19 meeting includes both sessions focusing on the conference theme and others reporting on the ongoing research projects of RC19 members. As in past RC19 meetings, mentoring sessions for junior scholars are an integral part of the program.
